Assignment 1 - (Techniques and Formats)
Task – 2
Time-Lapse
Time-lapse is where the frequency of the images is captured much
lower than what is used to view the sequence. This technique is stop motion as the pictures
are repeatedly taken so there is very minimal movement between each frames and
then they are played on a very high frames per second so there is the illusion
of movement. A good example of a time-lapse is this kidney bean plant growing over the course of many days.
Claymation
Claymation is a form of stop-motion animation that uses clay made characters or backgrounds. This is great for stop-motion as they can be easily manipulated and can be made to do almost any action possible as the clay that is used to make it all is extremely malleable. Potentially the biggest claymation that there is out there is Wallace and Gromit. Wallace and Gromit has been the biggest stop-motion ever made as of the amount of views it has received and to think that it was made entirely out of clay is probably the biggest achievement.
Pixelation
Pixelation is basically the same as claymation as it is still a form of stop-motion animation except you are not only using characters made out of clay you are actually using a real human body part who is slightly moving between each images this can be your hands to your eyes. A prime example of this is Peter Gabriel's music video to his song Sledgehammer. This is Pixelation as it includes Peter Gabriel's body in the stop-motion animation.
